The Addis Ababa City Courts are the judicial body of the Addis Ababa City Administration established in accordance with the amended Addis Ababa City Administration Charter Proclamation No. 361/95. The courts are structured at the first and appellate levels, and the first instance court has the jurisdiction of the first instance in matters falling under the jurisdiction of the city courts. In accordance with Proclamation No. 361/95, Article 41; in accordance with Proclamation No. 408/98 of the Charter Amendment and in accordance with Proclamation No. 1234, Article 5(1)(d) and Article 4(16), the Federal Courts of Justice have the jurisdiction to hear and decide on matters, without prejudice to the jurisdiction of the Social Courts.
